Larisa: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! As a partner of the Global Learning and Observations to benefit the Environment Program (GLOBE) of the United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Global STEM Education Center addresses key challenges—enhancing access to quality science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, fostering global environmental awareness, and promoting hands-on learning and equipping students with skills in research, technology, and environmental stewardship. Collaborating with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the United Nations General Assembly Science Summit, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), we support environmental science diplomacy through education, furthering our mission to prepare young learners for global challenges and opportunities in STEM fields.

Sarah Fuller: Helping Children Learn and Thrive Around the World

Sarah: It’s great to be here, Spiffy! Did you know that all children (including your audience!) have basic rights? It’s the job of the government to make sure that children are safe, have access to clean water and healthy food, and can go to school, learn, rest, and play. But in many places around the world, these rights are not fulfilled. As humans continue to damage the environment, it is becoming even harder for children’s basic needs to be met. My work focuses on making sure that children can go to school and learn, they are safe even when disasters occur, and we all work together to address the climate and environmental crisis so that all children, now and in the future, can learn.

Roman Gojayev: Actively Challenging Gender Stereotypes

Roman: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! We inhabit a world where individuals often limit their potential in response to societal expectations assigned to them through various roles. Gender norms stand out as particularly risky; as young people, we find ourselves shaped by these norms, influencing our life-long decisions and aspirations. With vibrant young minds, we are actively challenging gender stereotypes that are leading to hate crimes and gender-based violence, impacting young people, particularly women and girls.
