Bo: Thanks for having me, Spiffy. UNICEF's Office of Innovation helps discover, co-create, and scale bold solutions and technologies to deliver for children today and set a new pace of social impact for coming generations. We do this in a collective movement with innovative minds globally, across industries and generations, and with our UNICEF innovators in over 190 countries.
Marco: Thanks for inviting me, Spiffy! Did you know that the beverage industry has an enormous sustainability problem? Selling sodas, it proposes sugar and chemicals mixed with water, a resource that is ubiquitous, in plastic bottles. If we think in this way, it sounds insane, but it is really what happens on a daily basis. The bottles we use for a few minutes stay with us for generations to come, and they contribute massively to the eight million metric tons that are thrown into the oceans every year creating danger for marine life and creating pollution at all levels. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as it comes with large emissions due to transportation, fertility issues due to microplastics, desertification due to water depletions, and more.
Ranjavati: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! I am working in global health, an area that has been on top of everyone's minds since 2020. Even those, like my family, who had little knowledge or interest in this area are eager to learn more. Therefore, it feels exciting to work in this area. I am currently working in the strategy team of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria. The organization was one of the biggest funding agencies during COVID-19 and has recently approved its new strategy to support the SDG 3 goals by 2030. How to implement this new ambitious strategy is my core area of work.
